You are now in France! I'm now reading books about the Roman Republic/Empire by SHIONO Nanami, so France is very popular place in my thinking ^^;;;

セイヨウヒイラギ is "houx" in French... so maybe the origin is the same as "holly" in English, though I don't know French at all.
Previously I wrote about キンモクセイ(金木犀) here. According to this article キンモクセイ seems to be called Fragrant Orange-colored Olive, Sweet Olive, Fragrant Tea Olive, and so on. The botanical name is Osmanthus fragrans v. aurantiacus. I hope this will be your help...
Hello !
セイヨウヒイラギ(西洋柊), I found many
in the forest in Normandy of France.
In Japan,my father planted it in the garden. It became big.
セイヨウヒイラギ(西洋柊)is called
"houx" in French.
What I've never seen so far in France
is "KINMOKUSEI",
I miss the beautiful flagrance of this tree.
If you know what they call it
in English,
could you please write it about
some day ?
In France we can see many trees like
UME in these days.
Thank you,
and have a nice day!!
